My partner and I were craving an exciting getaway to kick off the warmer months, and InnSeason Resorts Surfside in Falmouth, Massachusetts, became the backdrop for a thrilling and fun-filled April weekend.
Arriving on a lively Friday evening, the coastal charm of Falmouth and the vibrant atmosphere of InnSeason Resorts Surfside set the stage for our dynamic escape. The anticipation of a springtime adventure by the sea and the invigorating ocean breeze created an immediate sense of excitement.
Our accommodation at the resort was a spacious studio, offering panoramic views of the beach, Nantucket Sound and Marth’s Vineyard. The coastal decor and the convenient amenities fueled our energy for a weekend filled with lively activities.
Saturday morning began with an exhilarating bike ride along the Shining Sea Bikeway. The refreshing breeze and the blooming scenery along the trail provided the perfect start to our day, setting the tone for a weekend of outdoor exploration and excitement. We chose to ride to the path to Woods Hole, which provided beautiful coastal scenery. Once in Woods Hole, we went to Pie-in The Sky for a great cup of hot, delicious coffee along with some tasty, fresh baked goodies! Gotta fuel up, you know? BTW, The Cape is cooler in the spring due to wind off the water so make sure to bring some warm clothes.

In the afternoon, we explored the vibrant town center of Falmouth, discovering local shops and seaside cafes. The lively atmosphere and the coastal charm of the town provided the perfect backdrop for a leisurely lunch at a local favorite, The Quarterdeck Restaurant, where we indulged in fresh seafood and locally inspired cuisine.
Once back from downtown we meandered along the beach in front of the resort gathering unique rocks and shells as momentums of our visit.
As the sun began to set, we returned to the resort for a dip in the heated pool and a relaxing soak in the hot tub. The contrast of the cool spring air all day and the warmth of the water provided a perfect post-activity relaxation, preparing us for an equally thrilling evening.
Dinner was a lively affair at Shipwrecked, a waterfront restaurant, right down the road, where we enjoyed the catch of the day and the panoramic views of the ocean. The sea breeze and the ambient coastal sounds created a magical setting for a romantic and energetic evening. Can you ever have enough fresh seafood? I think NOT.
Sunday morning called for one last burst of energy before bidding farewell to Falmouth. To fuel up, we went to the classic Betsy’s Diner for lots of great home cooked dishes. Then it was a short scenic drive along the beautiful coast to the iconic Nobska Lighthouse, its white structure standing against the blue sky, providing a picturesque conclusion to our lively weekend.
The resort recommended stopping to check out “The Knob”. This uniquely shaped peninsula offers stunning views of Quissett Harbor and Buzzards Bay after a short hike through a peaceful wooded area called the Cornelia Carey Sanctuary.

Then it was off to explore Highfield Hall and Gardens. Highfield Hall is an historic mansion built in 1878. It was once the summer home of the Beebe family, and it has since been transformed into a cultural center for the community. The estate hosts variety of events and exhibits throughout the year, including concerts, art exhibits, and educational programs for all ages. A beautiful spot to roam and enjoy nature.
As we continued our journey off-Cape, we chose to take the back roads to the Bourne Bridge, enjoying a scenic cruise through Sippewisset, North Falmouth, Pocasset and finally to Bourne. This route was so picturesque, with lots of harbor and marsh views along the way. Before leaving the Cape we had to spot at the Lobster Trap in Bourne for lunch…so good!
