My wife and I decided to usher in the spring season with a rejuvenating weekend in the serene coastal town of Ogunquit, Maine. Our May getaway proved to be a tranquil escape, filled with the promise of blooming flowers, crisp sea air, and the soothing sound of ocean waves.
Arriving on a mild Friday afternoon, we were greeted by the town's charming streets adorned with early spring blossoms. Our chosen retreat, The Falls at Ogunquit, exuded a welcoming warmth that set the tone for a relaxing weekend. The promise of a slower pace and the allure of Ogunquit's natural beauty drew us in.
As evening approached, we dined The Front Porch Piano Bar & Restaurant. Great food and drink combined with the eclectic vibe and jamming piano, made for a fun filled night! Oh yeah…fresh seafood (lobster risotto) because it doesn’t get any better than that, right?
Saturday morning unfolded with the soft glow of sunlight filtering through our window, inviting us to explore the town's tranquil surroundings. Our first destination was the picturesque Marginal Way, where we reveled in the blossoming coastal path. The air was infused with the sweet scent of spring blooms, and the ocean breeze carried a hint of warmth, making our leisurely stroll even more enchanting.
After our morning escapade, we chose Food for Thought, a charming café for a leisurely brunch, indulging in local delicacies and aromatic coffee. The unhurried atmosphere allowed us to appreciate each bite and sip, savoring the flavors and the joy of each other's company.
The rest of the day unfolded in a blissful rhythm as we explored the town's art galleries and boutiques, discovering the vibrant local arts scene. Ogunquit's welcoming spirit extended to its art community, and we found ourselves immersed in the creativity and unique expressions of the coastal town.
To further enhance our sense of tranquility, we decided to pamper ourselves with a visit to Your Body Works Massage and Day Spa. The calming atmosphere and skilled practitioners melted away any lingering stress, leaving us refreshed and ready to fully embrace the serenity of the weekend.
After our Spa visit, it was back at The Falls, where we hit the beautiful indoor pool for a dip and then relaxed in the dry sauna for a while before cleaning up and heading out for dinner.
Our recommended dinner spot, Angelin’s Ristorante, was busier than we expected, and we ended up eating at the bar, which turned out to be just great as we hit it off with the Bartender. The menus for food and wine offered lots of choices. Our meals were perfect with entrees of choice being Gamberoni e Asparagi - 6 large tiger shrimp and fresh asparagus in risotto & Romano cheese, as well as Encrustados - fresh haddock, then encrusted with seafood stuffing, lobster Newburg sauce, served over risotto. Can you say food coma?
Sunday morning brought a bittersweet farewell to our tranquil retreat. Before departing, we took one last moment to enjoy the coastal breeze on Ogunquit Beach, grateful for the rejuvenating experience that marked the beginning of spring for us. To commemorate the occasion, we visited a few local gift shops to pick up some souvenirs.
Our April weekend in Ogunquit, Maine, was a perfect blend of relaxation and natural beauty. The town's welcoming charm, combined with the gentle arrival of spring, created a peaceful haven for us to recharge and reconnect. Ogunquit proved to be the ideal destination for a tranquil escape, and we left feeling refreshed, inspired, and ready to face the renewed energy of the season ahead.
