Arriving on a crisp Friday evening, the seaside ambiance of Falmouth and the inviting atmosphere ofPXL_20221206_123806491.MP InnSeason Resorts Surfside set the stage for our dynamic coastal retreat. The anticipation of coastal adventures and the soothing sound of the waves created an immediate sense of relaxation.

Our accommodation at InnSeason Resorts Surfside was a comfortable and tastefully decorated studio unit, offering a breathtaking view of Nantucket Sound and Marth’s Vineyard, which was so close, it looked like we could swim there! The proximity to the beach fueled our excitement for the outdoor activities that awaited us during our weekend escape.

Saturday morning began with a refreshing coastal jog along the scenic Shining Sea Bikeway towards Woods Wole. We parked at the trail dead, right on the main beach road and headed out for a leisurely 3 mile run to Pie-In-The-Sky for coffee and tasty treats, before making our way back.

If you haven’t done this before, there is no better way to see the area. The salty sea breeze and the rhythmic sound of the waves crashing against the shore invigorated our senses, setting the tone for a day filled with active exploration.

Saturday morning began with a BIG BOY breakfast at a cool old school local diner called Betsy’s Diner, then off to ride our Mountain bikes at the renowned Otis Trail, just a few miles out of town. Using Trail Forks, we mapped a nice 10-mile loop. Whoever said Cape Cod is flat hasn’t mountain biked there! Wow, that was a workout.

In the afternoon, we explored Falmouth's picturesque town center, adorned with decorations and festive lights. The local boutiques and cafes exuded a cozy charm, providing a perfect respite for a leisurely lunch at a local favorite Brewery called Bad Martha’s. There we had homemade pizza and some great local brews! What a beautiful facility they have.

After a great lunch, we walked the beach for a while, gathering lots of unique rocks and shells! I have this quirky goal of gathering unique shaped rocks to use as cabinet pulls! Lots of great finds to be had this weekend.

As the sun began to set, we returned to the resort to make the most of its amenities. A dip in the heated pool and a relaxing session in the hot tub offered a perfect balance of activity and relaxation, preparing us for an equally thrilling evening.

Dinner was a delightful affair at trendy main street restaurant called Añejo Mexican Bistro, where we enjoyed the seafood based, fresh Mexican food as well as the local charm with fresh guacamole and margaritas abounding!

Sunday morning called for one last coastal adventure before bidding farewell to Falmouth. But before heading back down to Woods Hole, we stopped at Maison Villatte, an amazing French bakery for coffee and pastries. Sugar coma but wow, was it worth it!

Then we were off to explore Woods Hole, taking in the sights of Nobska Lighthouse and the stunning views of the Atlantic. Followed by a stop to visit “The Knob”. This uniquely shaped peninsula offers stunning views of Quissett Harbor and Buzzards Bay after a short hike through a peaceful wooded area called the Cornelia Carey Sanctuary. Absolutely beautiful.

Then we were off to explore Woods Hole, taking in the sights of Nobska Lighthouse and the stunning views of the Atlantic. While in Woods Wole, we visited the Woods Hole Science Aquarium on the campus of the world-renowned Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute. Lots of interesting information and cool things to see there!

The brisk coastal air and the sense of discovery added a fitting conclusion to our active and exciting March weekend. As we continued our journey off-Cape, we chose to take the back roads to the Bourne Bridge, enjoying a scenic cruise through Sippewisset, North Falmouth, Pocasset and finally to Bourne. This route was so beautiful, with lots of harbor and marsh views along the way. Before leaving the Cape, we had to spot at the Lobster Trap in Bourne for lunch…so good!

Our coastal escapade at InnSeason Resorts Surfside in Falmouth, Massachusetts, was a perfect blend of adventure and seaside charm. The resort's ideal location, combined with the dynamic coastal activities, provided an exhilarating setting for a lively March getaway. As we left the coastal haven, we carried with us the memories of our energetic exploits, the invigorating sea air, and the thrill of an active weekend spent along the shores of Cape Cod.
